Privacy Policy

What is Tally?

Tally is a home renovation cost tracker. It helps you record expenses, track budgets, organise product ideas, and scan receipts for your renovation projects. The app is operated by an individual developer based in the UK and defaults to GBP.

Data we collect

• —Account information: your email address, used for authentication only.
• —Project data: project names, budgets, rooms, categories, and any notes you enter.
• —Expenses: amounts, dates, suppliers, and descriptions you record.
• —Photos: product photos and receipt images you upload for scanning or reference.

We do not collect any analytics, advertising identifiers, or behavioural tracking data. The only cookies set are authentication session cookies required for you to stay signed in.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the Tally service to you — storing your projects, displaying your expenses, and powering the features you use. We do not sell, share, or use your data for any purpose beyond operating the app.

AI photo scanning

When you use the receipt or product photo scanning features, the image is sent to the Anthropic Claude API for data extraction (for example, reading a total from a receipt or identifying a product name). The following applies:

• —Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted via the API, per their usage policies.
• —Anthropic may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for trust and safety monitoring, after which they are deleted.

Data storage

All data is stored on Supabase, which provides a managed PostgreSQL database and object storage. Your project data and account information are stored in the database. Uploaded photos and receipts are stored in Supabase object storage. Supabase stores data on AWS infrastructure. You can review Supabase's privacy policy for details.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data.

• —Right to erasure: you can permanently delete your account and all associated data from your account settings at any time. This removes your profile, all projects you own, all expenses, photos, and your authentication record.
